Bee-eaters are elegant, colourful, resplendent birds with graceful flight.  They are sociable and can often be seen in pairs or groups around nectar producing plants.  Swooping from perches they grab prey on the wing and return to a conspicuous roost to stun (or kill) by banging their beaks against the branch and then devouring their prey.  There are 26 species world wide, 14 of which occur in Kenya
